Wow, to imagine the circumstances under which those paintings were created. It says so much about both the human capacity for cruelty and the human capacity for art and need for expression.

Great piece Jo and I too found those drawings very moving on seeing them - especially as they were created in so very little light with just a tiny high up window in a cell. Did you also happen to see La Vucciria while visiting the Palazzo? I think it a wonderful painting.
